Vintage Stanley Handyman H1252 chisel, 1/2″ blade

Here’s a Stanley Handyman 1/2″ chisel in good condition. Length is about 7″.Chisels often get rough treatment, but this one has survived better than some.The handle has some marks and scuffs but it’s in decent shape, with no cracks or splits.The paint in the logo has mostly disappeared, but it can still be seen.The shank and blade are also quite clean, though the edge has a nick, and appears to have been reground at something other than a 90 degree angle to the shank. So it will need regrinding and sharpening.A little TLC will make this into a nice chisel again.

The 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ chisel are stamped “750”. The wood chisels all have the original solid wood handles with leather ends, the 1 1/2″ has a metal end. Here we have a Stanley H1252 wood chisel with a 1 1/4″ cutting edge width.This one has survived the years in good condition.There are signs of use and wear – the handle has a few nicks, and the logo has faded a little, but there are no cracks or splits.The shank and blade are discolored from age and use, but the cutting edge is free from damage, and needs only a light sharpening to go to work again.
