1700s Early Large Antique Hand Forged Iron Gate Lock Key 5+ inches long,

Let your imagination run wild. What was this Key used for? Was it for a jail cell? Was it for a castle door? What about an ancient fort? Was it the gun powder room? I have no idea. I just know that it is extremely cool, heavy and almost 5 1/2 inches long. With clearly defined marks of being hand forged by a blacksmith this awesome piece is sure to be the center of your skeleton Key collection! Be sure to check out my other auctions as I have three other huge skeleton keys, which are probably newer than this one.

Antique Trammel Points Large Signed J. Ray Boxwood 1700’s Late 18th Century

These large handmade trammels from the late 1700’s are in amazing shape besides the missing brass cap. These were most likely made by the craftsman who used them as there weren’t many tool making businesses in those days. Brilliant shine with original patina intact. Look fabulous on the wall. About 11.5” long about 2 1/8 x 3/8” opening. Happy to answer any questions. It’s possible I’ll find the missing brass cap and edit the listing if I do! More great tools coming!

Primitive Wood Handle Wrought Iron Farriers Hoof Scraper Butteris Chisel c.1700

ANTIQUE HOOF BUTTERIS c.1700 Primitive Horse Tool This ancient medieval Farriers horse hoof knife or scraper known today as hoof nippers was used to trim a horses hooves in a very destructive manner. The tool was used in the 16th & 17th century and dates as far back as 1366 in England where a farrier, John Wyot was accused of having maliciously wounded a horse with a similar tool in London. They called it a ’boutour’, According to “The Medieval Horse and Its Equipment” by John Clark. Other different spellings were used, although Butteris is the proper term.By the early 19th century the use of the butteris was being actively discouraged, John Clark cites an 1831 veterinary manual that calls the butteris “that most destructive of all instruments.”Great example of an early tool for livestock care.
