It has wear and some paint splatter but no damage. Works perfectly. For specifications, see the “About This Item > Item Specifics” section of this listing. Visit my store for more antique and vintage tools and tool parts. My items are carefully packaged and shipped out on the same day payment is received, as long as payment is received by 3 pm Central Time (subject to post office hours, holidays, weekends, etc.) I have a lot of common and some hard-to-find tool parts that are not listed in my store. If you are not able to find what you need, feel free to send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. All of my listed items have been inspected and tested to provide the best possible description. In some cases, parts may be brushed off with a soft-bristled brush, such as a paint brush, to remove surface dust or debris for photos. Unless otherwise noted, parts have not been cleaned beyond this. Although most of my items sell very quickly, metal parts may contain a small layer of oil, WD-40, grease, or similar substance to preserve the item and prevent rusting while it is in inventory. ALL inventory is stored in an environment where climate and humidity are controlled to ensure each item is received in the same condition in which it is presented in the listing. Unless otherwise noted in the listing, photos are of the exact item you will receive. Every single item is listed and packaged by myself and I take pride in carefully packaging all items, regardless of purchase amount. Creating a positive experience for you, the buyer, is my top priority. Positive feedback is left for all buyers as soon as payment is received because by paying for an item you have fulfilled your obligation in the agreement. When applicable, I try to grade the condition of every tool and part objectively using John Walter’s grading system from his “Antique & Collectible Stanley Tools” price guide as described below. This is not necessarily an industry standard for grading, and grading vocabulary will vary from collector to collector since there is some subjectivity involved (i.e. “mint” vs. “near mint”). For these reasons, I will also try to list a description of these grades in each listing in order to clarify the grade given to each item. Please refer to the details below and read the “condition” portion of this listing for the condition grading assigned to this item. MINT: 100% of original finish remaining. No signs of wear or rust – probably never used. No problems or issues. EXCELLENT: 95-99% of original finish remaining. Very slight wear with no rust. No problems or issues. GOOD PLUS: 85-95% of original finish remaining. Used but well maintained. Scuffs, light wear, very little rust. GOOD: 65-85% of original finish remaining. Moderate wear and/or rust. Minor deficiencies – owner’s initials, nicks, etc. GOOD MINUS: 50-65% of original finish remaining. Has seen hard use, but remains serviceable. Scratches, nicks, dents, cracks, chips, improper replacement parts. FAIR: 25-50% of original finish remaining. Heavy wear and rust. Some parts are broken, missing, or improper – serious flaws. POOR: 0-25% of original finish remaining. Pitted, abused, heavily worn. Serious damage and missing major parts.

stanley plane sb4 Great Condition

stanley plane sb4 like new. Condition is “Used”. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Like new and it might not even been ever used

nice Stanley SB 4 wood plane w/ dual blade adjusters made in England

You are bidding on one Stanley Number SB 4 wood plane as pictured. It is marked “STANLEY” on the front end, “ENGLAND SB 4” in front of the rear handle, and “STANLEY SB 4″ on the decal on the cap. The iron is not marked. The body is about 9-3/4″ in length including the tail under the rear handle. The iron is about 2″ in width, and is about 3-11/16” in length. The plane features the simple dual adjusters for the iron, similar to the Stanley 151 spokeshave. They allow the iron to be adjusted laterally. The front knob and rear handle are a black plastic. Condition is very good, and the plane appears to have seen very little use. The bottom and sides still have the original machining marks, and are bright and clean with a few bits of faint patina (color) and some scratches mostly in the sole. The black finish or japanning is bright and shiny, and nearly all intact. The front knob and rear handle have some small scratches and scuffs. The iron still has most of its original lacquer finish other than near the sharp edge where it has been cleaned off. The cap is also bright and shiny, and the decal is intact. Except as noted, there are no cracks or chips or chunks missing from any of the castings, and everything operates properly. SHIPPING: 4 pounds when boxed, shipped USPS Ground Advantage, insurance is included. No International shipping. l sell what I enjoy, and I collect antique woodworking tools and I enjoy photography! The queue is overflowing with tools right now, as they seem to be finding me faster than I can list them. So please keep watching my postings as I have LOTS more to list!Searching my listings: I have lots to see! Some of you will undoubtedly enjoy browsing through everything, but if you want to hone in on something specific, I suggest you click on the “Visit Store” link in Seller Information section in the upper right of this listing. That will lead you to my extensive system of categories. How to subscribe to my eBay newsletter? Every Friday eBay sends out my newsletter featuring 10 of my most interesting new listings. To subscribe, click the VISIT STORE to go to my eBay store and then click on the heart symbol that is labeled SAVE SELLER. That will automatically get you on the mailing list for the newsletters. They are free, and you can unsubscribe at any time. ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on eBay, and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention …….) descriptions, and auctions with pictures only of the left side because the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you bid, and especially before you receive it in the mail. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. What goes around, comes around.RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn’t need a return policy. However, that doesn’t mean that I won’t make an occasional mistake. Please bid with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. And if you have made an error, and bought the wrong size, for example, I will still take care of you (but I’ll let you pay the return shipping!).USPS POSTAGE RATE INCREASES: I use the Post Office for everything, and yes, the shipping charges just keep going up and up. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it’s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20″ long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30″ long, because those longer packages won’t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands — I don’t have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don’t have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don’t ask, the answer is no.INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$. AUCTIONS: I won’t end an auction listing early to sell it to you directly. As a bidder, I really dislike going back at the end of an auction to bid, only to discover that the seller had ended the auction early. So I won’t do that for you, or to you.PACKAGING: Please check my feedback — I package well. I figure if you take the time to purchase from me, then I can take the time to package it well, and not just throw it into a cereal box with a scrap of newspaper.I hope someday I will meet some of you as we trudge the happy road of tool collecting!
