ATLAS Snow & Nealley Co Hudson Bay Axe Bangor Maine ME Ax Hatchet 1 3/4 lb Head

From John Stanley Antique Tools. This listing is for an early style Snow & Nealley Co. / Bangor, Maine 1 3/4 lb. Hudson Bay style axe. In very good used condition. As shown in the photos the head has an almost fully readable S&N Co. mark. On the under side is the number ‘1 3/4’ for the weight. Original handle has a fully readable Snow & Nealley Co. mark. As shown this handle is also marked ‘ATLAS’. This was the marking for the Atlas Plywood Co. They were major land owners in the state of Maine up until the 1960’s. Measures 22 5/8″ long. The head measures 5 3/16″ long with a 3 1/8″ wide cutting edge. Included is the owner made leather sheath shown. In over 35 years of collecting and dealing in antique tools this is only the third axe we have had with the Atlas mark. A hard to find axe for you to add to your collection.
