Vintage Collins Legitimus Axe Head Collinsville Conn Old Timer Ax 3 5/8 lb ‘LM’
From John Stanley Antique Tools – Antique Collins Old Timer Legitimus Collinsville, Conn. axe head. Measures 7 1/4″ long with a 4 1/2″ wide cutting edge. Weighs 3 5/8 lbs. As shown this has a very nice mark. Each side of the head, at the bottom as shown in the photos, has an indentation. These are exactly opposite from each other and do not appear to be grind marks. Unsure, but think this may be a pinch mark that happened during the forging process. This will make someone a fine user axe or add to your collection. Came from a local estate. The flat side shows some rust as shown and the other side looks to have been wire wheeled. Has not been sharpened. Measurements are in the photos. Plenty of use left in this old axe.
