McGillis, Brown & Pratt, Menominee, Michigan – Perfection Patent Tack Puller

I only have the tool itself, NO PAPER WORK, OR BOX, THIS IS A IMAGE I FOUND WITH DESCRIPTION, AND A COOL PHOTO TO DOWNLOAD…Thank You for looking and read the History below….Hoping its something you don’t have..! These are Brand new the paper in photo was like fell apart as I touched, jus’ disintegrated, so i jus’ have the tool..! you will be able to tell its NEW condition … The PERFECTION TACK PULLER by McGillis, Brown & Pratt Manufacturing Company. One of the fascinating qualities of antique tools is their ability to evoke the reality of an era very long ago, if not so very far away. Imagine a world where anyone could, and many did, set their hand to creating a new and useful device, and then very quickly obtain a patent for same. To be sure, many of these patents were a waste of good paper, but a world so rich with opportunity seems to have motivated a great many to achieve extraordinary things. This Perfection tack puller was patented by William H. Brown of Menominee, Michigan on May 3, 1903. This example is in unused condition in its original box. . It has never been used, nor was it ever unwrapped from the paper sleeve/handbill in which it has lain protected from a century of weather and dirt, until it was carefully taken out for this photograph. According to the papers, this tack puller was prepared for offering to the market, despite the fact that numerous other tack pullers were available, because it was the …superior of any other made. Moreover, the Perfection puller is identified in the accompanying description as …the only tool of the kind ever manufactured from such high quality material. It may well be that this tool was simply too nice to use; or it might more likely be that the expenditure of time and money for materials and distribution on something so mundane as a tack puller may have proved prohibitively expensive for Mrs. McGillis, Brown & Pratt of Menominee, Michigan. Whatever the case, we thank them, one and all, for having created this magical link to a bygone time, and for having sealed, so long ago, within the protective paper wrapper, a piece of the dream that resides in each of us. Extra special. Length = 6.00 Inches (Ref. Id No.: 120385)
