Antique 19th C. Ship Builder Shipwrights Caulking Hammer. Turned Hickory Handle

The head is made of a hardwood, possibly rosewood (see detailed pics). Rosewood being a very hard wood was often used in to ol making due to its durability. If it’s not Rosewood, then it’s mahogany which was also a very common wood used for antique tools.

Each end on the head is clad in copper.
