ANTIQUE DISSTON & “SON” HAND SAW 1865-72

Here is a historically important Disston saw from my personal collection in good condition. It is a very early Henry Disston & Son hand saw from just after the Civil War, 1865-71. He had worked in the factory before the war starting at the bottom and working his way up learning all phases of saw production.

OLD H. DISSTON AND SONS LOGGER SAW, 36″ BLADE, MEDALION PUTS IT AT 1896-1917, PLATE HAS CAST STEEL WARRANTED, PATENT GROUND, PHILADELPHIA, REG. US PAT. OFF, THE AUXILLARY HANDLE IS PERMANENTLY FIXED BY SOMEONE WHO GOT TIRED OF IT COMING LOOSE, NOT WELDED TO THE BLADE OR ANYTHING, JUST RIVETED ON BOTH SIDES TO ITSELF, NICE WOOD ON MAIN HANDLE, HARD TO FIND WITH A READABLE PLATE, PLATE NOT BOLD, BUT DEFINITELY READABLE, NO KINKS, TEETH ARE FAIRLY SHARP AND ALL PRESENT.

Vintage Hand Saw

Total length 23 inches the blade is 20 1/4 inches long. I believe it says distant and sons Philadelphia on the handle.

Vintage 26″ Disston No. 7 Hand Saw ca. 1896-1917

Fresh from a local estate sale. Nice lamb’s tongue saw. I have lightly cleaned it and there are only a couple issues to report. There is plenty of staining from the rust, but there are only a few small areas with any pitting.
