Fray & Pigg Spofford Brace Bit Tool Antique

Fray & Pigg Man (may be more letters). I do not know if this tool had 2 wood handle parts (as most braces do). There are no marks or wear in the spots where these pieces would have been. I can read the following on the tool itself.

for sale is a John S. Fray 12” sweep. It is a recent find and it is in heavily pitted used condition. The top knob is solid, and spins freely. The sweep handle is secure and spins freely. The chuck is decent and the tightening thumb screw is pitted, but not stripped and tightens well. The Name John S Fray is obscured by pitting. I am unable to read and words or lettering. The brace will need a ton more cleaning and polishing restoration. Please see all pictures for condition. Ask questions before you bid.
