Very old Tin Smith’s hammer made from quality steel. The head is stamped with the maker’s name I.Sorby and emblem. In 1810 Isaac Sorby established his manufacturing company making quality hand tools, trading under his own name until 1814. Over the years it changed names; Sorby & Turner being one of them. His trademark was of great value as it continued to be used by at least 10 successor firms. This lovely old hammer has it’s original sturdy ash wooden handle that tapers in the middle to a wonderful teardrop shape that’s really comfortable to hold. It’s 11.75 inches in length, head width is just over 3.75 inches. There’s slight damage to the pein edge ( please zoom in on photos) but otherwise it’s in great original condition and would be an ideal collector’s item.
