Vintage Collins Old Timer axe head in good condition. It has been sharpened and not a great job at that. Needs to be cleaned up better but I will leave that up to you. RARE AXE OLD TIMER Kelly Howe Thompson Duluth MN Double Bit

I ran this through electrolysis a while ago then I oiled it and it’s been sitting on a shelf for a while. The stamp is identifiable but pretty pitted out see pictures for details. It’s nice and straight and think this would clean up nice with a file and stones to the edge it feels like good steel.

Vintage Collins Legitimus Axe Head Collinsville Conn Old Timer Ax 3 5/8 lb ‘LM’

From John Stanley Antique Tools – Antique Collins Old Timer Legitimus Collinsville, Conn. axe head. Measures 7 1/4″ long with a 4 1/2″ wide cutting edge. Weighs 3 5/8 lbs. As shown this has a very nice mark. Each side of the head, at the bottom as shown in the photos, has an indentation. These are exactly opposite from each other and do not appear to be grind marks. Unsure, but think this may be a pinch mark that happened during the forging process. This will make someone a fine user axe or add to your collection. Here’s a beautiful old Collins Old Timer double bit falling axe with a 3-1/2 pound head. It’s been rehung with a 35″ handle and the eye is tight. The original maker’s mark, roll-stamped in the head is faint but readable with a magnifying glass. This axe is ready to be put back in service in your woodlot or add it to your collection!
