2 Vintage Car Jacks Antique Heavy Duty Rees No 8 & Dreadnaut Twin Lift No. 37

Offered for sale is a lot of two vintage jacks. The first is a Rees No. 8 and I believe is cast iron. It is very large and heavy. It has several other things cast into the side referencing patent and manufacturing information. It looks like it may have been made in Pittsburgh, PA but it is tough to make out the words cast into the side. The other jack is a Dreadnaut Twin Lift No. 37 and on the other side it also has manufacturing and patent information. The patent is from July of 1926 and it was made in St. Joseph, Michigan by Auto Spec MFG Co. These might even be railroad or rail jacks but I am not sure. I acquired these in a large lot of vintage automotive parts and don’t need them. Really nice vintage pieces that would look great in your garage or man cave. Priced for quick sale, get them before they are gone! Returns: If item is returned initial shipping charges will not be refunded and buyer is responsible for return shipping costs. REES MFG Co(?) Vintage Antique Gear Shaft Puller Tool Automotive Industrial Farm

Up For Sale: REES MFG Co(?) Vintage Antique Gear Shaft Puller Tool Automotive Industrial Farm Mystery Tool – This tool is labeled “REES” “PAT APLD FOR” – Red painted finish – I enjoy the research and discovering unidentified items; this tool has not only stumped me, but plenty of learned guys I have shown it to – If anyone viewing this has any idea, please share 🙂 From my research, my best guess is it is from the company REES Manufacturing Co., of Pittsburg, PA, formerly Iron City Products Co. – They changed the name to Rees in 1921. Rees was known for their “Double Worm Gear Drive Jack” — Admittedly, I am still somewhat of a noob with old tools, as my expertise (day job) is in vintage firearms and parts — that said, I am told this is some type of Puller, for pulling seals off of a shaft. Some have opined, it may have been a speciality tool that came in a tool-kit with the purchase of some type of heavy machinery like a tractor, large truck, or perhaps industrial farm or fence building equipment. The fact that I have yet to positively ID this device tells me it is possibly quite rare… perhaps its value is actually priceless and should be donated to a museum? Whatever it is, it is heavy-duty, weighing in at 2 lbs 13.5 oz. Overall condition as seen in photos; displaying wear commensurate with age, paint chipping on the high points, and notably, it appears one of the two (rotating) grabbing-teeth (connected by way of peened pins) has lost a small portion on the end – on the other side, this piece is curved over which allows it to rest inside the bottom notch (which stops the piece from rotating). I imagine these pieces were meant to be replaced after seeing so much use. The center rod piece is actuacted by the center arm which receives tension from a large spring – the spring appears to still have a fair amount of strength.
