La pierre à aiguiser des Pyrénées (also known as the Saurat stone or “L’Ariégeoise”) is a renowned natural whetstone quarried and crafted in the Ariège region of the French Pyrenees, specifically around the village of Saurat.

I don’t know what this oil stone is made from but when you catch it in the light you can see of little sparkly bits as you rotate the stone. The stone is 8 in long by just over two inches wide and the box is 9.5 inches long by 3 inches wide.
