You are bidding on a #38 1950’s Vtg Craftsman Professional Series BL 619-3742 9” SARGENT Wood Plane Tool Clean vintage wood plane Fast shipping same day as payment is rec’d The plane was recently obtained from a sale, and shows to have been well cared. The exact era unknown. This is a Craftsman professional Series Wood plane, with grooved sides, and smooth bottom. The iron is stamped BL which is the letter code of the manufacturing being Sargent Tool Company. I believe the Iron logo and the circle logo on the lever cap would date in the early 1950’s. I believe the model number is Sargent 619-3742 or 9-3742. The plane is embossed on the rear metal base Made in USA, the lever cap is embossed Craftsman on front with red background. The iron is stamped Craftsman, made in USA BL. The blade depth adjuster knob is approx. 1 1/4″ diameter. The plane has a composite front knob and rear tote, and has the gray japanning, with the professional series grooves on the sides. The plane is 9″ long and has a 2 9/16″ wide base, and is approx. 5 1/2″ high. The blade is 2” wide and 7 3/8” long. The plane is in good condition,….little use,….the lever cap has some plating flaking off,….some light pain smears on tote,……, the gray japanning is about 95 % intact—has some chips and rubbed off areas. As with the vintage of the plane, there is some normal use wear, a few dings and scratches and has minor discoloration, as noted from the photos.
