Rare Ornate 11” Spirit Level By James Buist of Edinburgh – 1859-1891

Unlike makers of fine spirit levels like Mathieson and Preston, very little information exsists today about the obscure toolmaker Buist who made this one. Alll we know is that Mr James Buist operated in Edinburgh from 1859 to 1891 and made some of the finest spirit levels known to collectors. Some age related wear from use and a small chip to the ebony infill visible in the 3rd photo. All working and correct. Bubble intact. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions. Enjoy!
