You are bidding on one wood bodied shave or spokeshave as pictured.It is marked with owner “W T MOORE” at least five times. I don’t see any maker markings, but it certainly appears to have been commercially made.It features two irons and two wedges, and the large steel wear plate. It has an escapement for the shavings or chips. Each iron is just over 7/16″ in width, and about 3-1/16″ in length. They are not marked. Each one cuts a bead that is about 1/4″ wide.Each wedge is also just over 7/16″ in width, and about 2-13/16″ in length. Overall length of the wood body is about 11-3/8″.It weighs 9.2 ounces on my postal scale. It came to me nearly black in color. I don’t think it was painted, but instead was simply coated with something black in color, perhaps some sort of grease or preservative. I cleaned much of that off, to reveal the color and grain of the wood, but it would benefit from some more cleaning.Both irons have quite a bit of rust and some pitting. The wear plate has quite a bit of pitting, and the wood has some scratches and dings. With a sharpening of the irons, it could be put back to work. What goes around, comes around.RETURN POLICY: I believe that if you give honest descriptions, and include enough pictures, you shouldn’t need a return policy. However, that doesn’t mean that I won’t make an occasional mistake. Please bid with the assurance that if I have made an error in my listing, I WILL take care of you. And if you have made an error, and bought the wrong size, for example, I will still take care of you (but I’ll let you pay the return shipping!).USPS POSTAGE RATE INCREASES: I use the Post Office for everything, and yes, the shipping charges just keep going up and up. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it’s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20″ long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30″ long, because those longer packages won’t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands — I don’t have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don’t have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don’t ask, the answer is no.INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada. If you are in Canada, ask for what the shipping would cost, but be prepared for it to be $$$$$. AUCTIONS: I won’t end an auction listing early to sell it to you directly. As a bidder, I really dislike going back at the end of an auction to bid, only to discover that the seller had ended the auction early. So I won’t do that for you, or to you.PACKAGING: Please check my feedback — I package well.
