This plane was covered by patent 413,329, granted to Solon Rust on October 22, 1889, and it was for the notches on the back side of the iron. Birmingham made an interesting variety of block planes, as well as bench planes and rabbet planes.

George Mosher was granted patent 413,300, on October 22, 1889, for his “B” Plane. It is marked “B PLANE” in an arched mark, “PAT’D” faintly below that, and “OCT 22, 1889” below that. Condition is fair to good, with quite a bit of scattered pitting on both sides.
