These are my 4pc Ball Punch Sets There are four sizes of ball punches in this set…’1/8-inch1/4-inch3/8-inch1/2-inch(Sizes are APPROXIMATE) Ball punches are used in blacksmithing work to push material out away from the ball, to create controlled dimples, hollows, and tabs. These tools are commonly used in animal heads and bottle openers, and I personally use ball punches for setting countersink holes for screws in J-hooks. This set gives you four size options for doing different sizes of dimples or decorations, to make sure you have the right tool for the right application at the right time. These tools are forged from new 5160 spring steel. They are forged and ground without any heat-treatment. These tools are designed for hot-work and if used properly will hold up very well. 5160 is a naturally tough material and it is what I personally use for all of my ball punches in my own shop. Fiery Furnace Blacksmith – RailRoad Spike Tongs – MADE IN AMERICA

These are the Fiery Furnace RailRoad Spike Tongs! This particular style of tong grips the Head of the Railroad spike by putting forward pressure on the back to the head with the Flat section and holding the edges of the head in place with the two “Legs” of the tongs! It works extremely well for standard Railroad Spikes and has a very tight grip! All of my tongs are made from new 5160 spring steel. This makes them lighter and stronger than other tongs, which translates into a more comfortable grip and less fatigue on your hand. The overall length of my tongs is 18 inches, and the reigns are a rounded profile making them comfortable and not too bulky. All of my tongs are forged to finish, cleaned in a vibratory tumbler, and finished with a Custom Fiery Furnace mix to provide a near perfect rust-free finish. (Not a greasy or oily finish.) DO NOT QUENCH TONGS! If you heat these tongs up and cool them in water, they will break. It is EXTREMELY bad habit to overheat your tongs. Good habit is to dunk your tongs in water rapidly, IN and back OUT very quickly. This will cool your tongs down slowly and prevent making the material hard and brittle. Fiery Furnace Blacksmith – 5 PC Chisel Set – MADE IN THE USA

This is my New 5PC Chisel Set These are my FIVE most commonly used chisels in the shop. All five are made from new, 5/8-inch round, 5160 spring steel, oil hardened and tempered, and sharpened with a 120 grit sanding belt. They are about 9-inches long. The round blade chisel is typically used for general split and chisel chasing work. It can be used for cold layout or hot-work. The flat blade chisel is usually used for getting in tight areas where the round blade chisel won’t quite reach, and it also has some chasing applications. It is also a good choice for top cutting a bar in half. The 90-degree chisel is used for carrying a chiseled line out to the edge of the bar. The very corner of the 90 degree chisel can be used for animal noses and other decorative applications. The Half Round chisel can be used to reach the rounded corners of steel bars or it can be used in a decorative capacity to make rolling hills and other geographical features in steel. The small, semi-rounded chisel is great for getting in the smallest areas where your other chisels just won’t quite reach, and can also be used for chasing tight curves or making short decorative lines. I like to use mine to open up small split crosses. I use these same chisels to make many Decorative designs on my Custom Hammers which can be viewed on my Ebay store! These are my 4pc Drift Sets There are four sizes of round drifts included in this set! A 3/8-inch opener/drift (approximately 5-inches long)A 1/2-inch drift (approximately 6-inches long)A 5/8-inch drift (approximately 6-inches long)And a 3/4-inch drift (approximately 6.5-inches long) All four are made from new, round, 1045 medium carbon steel, stock. The drifts can be cooled in water between drifting heats without harming them so long as the drift temperature is below 800 degrees. (Showing NO dull red color.) If you quench these at too high of a heat, they can harden and break. I decided to use 1045 as it is a bit tougher than low carbon mild steel, and will hold up better, but still allows you to water cool. If the drifts ever bend, you can simply bring them up to a low heat, straighten them with light hammer blows, and allow to air cool. (bending can sometimes occur in the smaller sizes, particularly 3/8-inch if you attempt attempt to force the drift through, allow the drift to overheat, or hit inaccurately.) The drifts are lightly sanded with 60-grit to provide a smooth drifting operation and feature a reverse taper on the struck end so they fall through the stock when you drive the drift. Vintage: Hand-made Japanese Iron -Japanese Blacksmith Tongs 48cm sawsmith 631g

This is an antique Japanese blacksmith tong, known asHizukuri-hashi, recently sourced from a saw-smith in the Hokkaido region. There is a slight intentional play (slack) at the pivot. This is common in traditional hand-forged tongs to prevent seizing from thermal expansion and to allow the smith to adjust the grip by hand during intense forging.

Vtg Splitting Froe Hand Forged Primitive Shake & Shingle Tool Maine Barn Find

FROM JOHN STANLEY ANTIQUE TOOLS – We are pleased to offer another neat item from that barn in Northern Maine. Antique hand forged, blacksmith made shingle or shake froe. Appears to have been made from a repurposed piece of steel that the ‘smith had layin around. Not forge welded where it wraps around the handle. Looks to have had alot of use. As shown the old wooden handle has several old worm holes which help contribute to the originality of this item. As shown the handle is held in place by three old square head nails. Measures 17″ x 15 1/2″. The blade is 2 3/8″ – 2 1/2″ wide. Another neat item for your collection. We will gladly combine items to save on your shipping costs when practical and possible.
