Knob and Tote Handle Stud Removal Nuts for Stanley Cast Iron Planes If you have a 7/32″-20 BSW or 12-20 BSW right hand thread, these nuts will allow removing the Knob and Tote Handle Stud from the base without damage to the stud. See #10,13,14 & 15 in blue on the attached Stanley Plane Parts Diagram to locate the Plane Iron Depth Position Stud Stud Removal Instructions: 1) Remove the slotted nut from the stud by turning in a counter-clockwise direction2) After removing the slotted nut, add a few drops of penetrating oil where the stud threads into the cast iron base and let it soak in for a few minutes3) Thread on both Stud Removal Nuts past the end of the stud and tighten against each other with two 7/16 inch open end wrenches4) Now turn the rear Stud Removal Nut, the one closest to the base, in a counter-clockwise direction with the open end wrench and remove the stud MW-TCA members will receive a 10% discount rebate.
