Antique Merrill & Wilder ~ gouge Chisel

Very good with damaged handle. Pliny Merrill started producing edge tools in Hinsdale, NH in 1840. Within the decade, Merrill’s nephew, George S. Wilder, joined the company, became manager, and a partner in 1858. At that time, the company stamped their tools “Merrill & Wilder.” According to the sources, the imprint “Merrill & Wilder” was used after C. E. Jennings took over the company in the early 1880s.

Vtg Stanley, Merrill, L&IJ White, Stiletto, DR Barton, S&W Co. Chisels Total 8

This is a lot of 8 woodworking Chisels from various manufacturers. Two of these are unbranded on many of them they are very hard to read the L and IJ white 1837 Buffalo New York is the largest it is a 2 inch wide chisel with a loose handle. Has the metal ring at the base of the handle with a copper guard for the tip the stiletto is an inch and a half many of the stamps are unreadable or just barely readable. Two of the chisels have leather applied to the end of the handle that’s kind of cool. Two of the handles are loose and if pulled hard would come off. At least one is a replacement handle. DR Barton and company have a stamp that says its name and Rochester New York We are offering free shipping on this set of eight chisel. It will be Usps ground advantage.
