Lovely Rosewood handles. This plane is a type 15, which dates to 1931-32. 2 3/8″ wide Stanley (England) Iron. make Supersized seem small.
Stanley Bailey Antique No. 4C Smooth Plane Type 8; 1899-1902 excellent Condition
The plane blade is not original. I’ve done most of the work to restore the tool, even used it for a couple of years, but I like my modern stanley type 19 more. The handle had this polyurethane finish that I took off, I used some spray shellac which I quite like and paste wax. That was the only serious modification I did to this plane, and the color should return to normal over time. I’m not quite certain if it’s truly rosewood? I lack knowledge in that area. I tried to match the blade close to the era, so I chose a V logo plane iron

This hand plane marked Stanley Bailey No. 4 Made in USA appears to be in pretty fair shape I took it apart for the pictures and gave it a light dusting with a cloth. Will need some cleaning and tuning as I simply just put the parts back on the bed. This is an estate find, so I have no history on this item, it is being offered in “as is / as found” condition.
