Vintage SARGENT No. 408 (#3) smooth bottom smoothing plane

The plane has been cleaned, lubricated and missing parts have been replaced. The missing blade has been replaced with a Fulton iron, the lever cap has also been replaced. The tote and knob have been replaced with resin-infused, heat cured Sapele.

Trustworthy No. 4 size smooth plane. The sole is 9″ long and it has a 2″ wide iron. It is in good condition. As with many of these later planes, the finish on the tote and knob show wear. This was made by Sargent.
