Vintage Master Lock No. 2, a classic heavy-duty padlock known for its durable laminated bronze construction. The laminated bronze body design was patented in 1924 by Master Lock's founder, Harry Soref, who was inspired by the construction of bank vault doors and battleships. The No. 2 is a robust model, featuring a 1-3/4” wide body and a 5/16-inch diameter hardened steel shackle. Vintage versions, like this one, were manufactured in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Keys feature the "Walking Lion" logo, which Master Lock used primarily from 1921 through the early 1930s, and later for their "Secret Service" line in the mid-20th century. Serial Numbers: Some vintage models have serial numbers or codes (like "2949" visible on your key) stamped on the bottom of the lock body or on the keys, which can help a locksmith provide a more precise date.
