Williams & Co., was founded in 1882 by James Harvey Williams and Matthew Diamond. The company started as a drop forging business in Flushing, Queens, New York. In 1884, the business moved to Brooklyn and was renamed J.H. Williams & Co. in 1887. Williams was one of the first companies to mass-produce drop-forged hand tools. The company's first factory in Red Hook, Brooklyn, revolutionized drop forging by using machinery to ensure consistent quality. The factory was also advanced for its time, with fireproof architecture, a private fire department, and oil recycling. Williams Tool Inc. was incorporated in 1967. In 1993, Snap-on acquired J.H.
