Kraeuter used several handle designs which help in identifying when a tool was made. The “Don’t Slip” design (Patent 46,682, 1914) was “a new, original, and ornamental Design for a handle for Pliers or Similar Articles.” By 1929 this pattern had been added to most handles. The addition of ‘“KRAEUTER U.S.A.”’ to the underside of each handle narrows the date range of the Pliers — 1926 to late 1930s — when the pattern was changed again and smooth handles became the standard. The Pliers are in good working condition. There is some evidence of possible “operator error” where not-original notches were added to the Pliers’ Cutter and outer edge surface of one of the Jaws (see images). The pivot remains tight and smooth. The Jaws close true. Paint has been added to the inner surface of one handle, perhaps as identification and there is some corrosion on the handles (see images). In general, though, these nearly hundred year old Pliers could be put to work without any difficulty. The Pliers could also be cleaned a bit an made into a show-and-tell reminder of the quality of old tools. We will ship the Pliers by USPS Priority Mail on the next regular business day following receipt of payment.
