Vintage hardwood marking gauge (scratch gauge) with solid brass thumbscrew lock and multiple brass plugs/rivets on the face of the rounded head. Owner-stamped “H A Carter” (plus second mark) on the beam. Steel marking spur intact. Good usable condition with expected age-related wear and attractive patina. Thumbscrew functions properly. Ideal for the working woodworker or tool collector.
