Bonney Vise & Tool began business in the late 19th Century. It’s name was changed to Bonney Forge and Tool in 1921 to reflect its broader range of products. Bonney was one of the first companies to begin making Steel Alloy Wrenches. In 1923 Bonney announced the production of a Wrench, “guaranteed to strip the thread or break the bolt without damage to the wrench." (see Alloy Artifacts, http://alloy-artifacts.org/bonney-forge-tool.html#intro). We figure this Handle was produced before 1947 because the change from being marked “MADE IN U.S.A.” to just “U.S.A.” happened about that time. “(T)he change from the ‘Made in U.S.A.’ marking to the simpler ‘U.S.A.’ form . . . ceased in 1946-47, estimated” (http://alloy-artifacts.org/bonney-forge-tool.html#dates). That this T36 has a plain finish rather than chrome plating places production to early 1940s. The Sliding “T” Handle is in fully functional condition with the Head sliding smoothly and the detent working properly. There is no evidence of misuse or abuse, only typical, pressure-point wear (see images). The tool can look good or handle a day’s work — or both. We will ship the T36 by USPS Ground Advantage (formerly 1st Class Package) on the next regular business day following receipt of payment.
