An ORIGINAL CUTTING IRON AND CHIP BREAKER for Stanley planes No. 8 or 608 by STANLEY. The cutting iron is marked with the Pat. Ap'l. 19, '92 trademark used in the last decade of the Nineteenth Century. The reference in the trademark is to the date of the U.S. Patent on the slotted design with circular opening on the cutter patented by prolific Stanley inventor Edmund A. Schade. This cutting iron and breaker, which measure 2 5/8 inches in width are both in excellent condition and could be put directly to use.
