A rare EARLY PATTERN 2 1/4" WIDTH CUTTING IRON by Stanley. Early versions of the No. 5 1/2 and No. 605 1/2 series used this iron, which was unique those Stanley planes. The No. 5 1/2 was changed to use the 2 3/8" width iron used on the No. 4 1/2, 6 and 7 beginning in 1939.
