An original EARLY TYPE CAST IRON BODY for a Sargent No. 409 nine-inch smoothing plane by Sargent & Company, New Haven, Connecticut. Fully 95% of the original black japan finish remains on this body, which is designed for use with a two-inch width cutting iron.
