An ORIGINAL LATER TYPE "TALL" FRONT KNOB for a Stanley No. 4 1/2 heavy smoothing plane, No. 8 or No. 8 C 24" length jointer plane by STANLEY. This clean, sound and ready to use knob, which came from a "Type 14" version of the No. 8 plane, could be put directly to use. The planes of the "Type 14" version were the first to have the raised ring cast in the front of the bed to secure the handle and this knob has the distinctive tapered base designed to accommodate that raised ring.
